Umbrella Entertainment are releasing a region-locked (at least according to their site) theatrical and director's cut Blu-ray of MASK.

An acoustics researcher and devoted What's Up, Doc? fan has written a mock research paper on vocal reverberation under spinal pressure (you know, VRUSP).

Happy to announce this event that I've been working to put together for the better part of six months:

Hopefully this gives more people in the Southeastern U.S. an opportunity to view the film.

I don't drink, but without a stable program I could probably be swayed to uproot my life and move down south for one

Right, I should’ve remembered. Change that offer to a sno-ball, then!

If anyone does do this would it be possible to have a recording of it for archival purposes?

Pretty cool. I guess we'll get more news about this film. When it premiered at MoMA, they mentioned that they still needed to "finish" it (for example, the sound mix hasn't been polished and they hadn't done any ADR) but it's been a couple of years now, so I wonder if it's finished and they're just looking for a distributor.

AFAIK, we're screening the original workprint that's played at MoMA and elsewhere. At least, I haven't been told otherwise.

FWIW, it doesn't look or sound egregiously unfinished, and I would go as far to say it's perfectly releasable, but I imagine modern day standards are much more polished. (I vaguely recall one or two moments of dialogue that probably should be re-recorded as the on-set sound wasn't too great, but I've seen plenty of great indie movies with rougher moments of audio than that.)
